...and better yet: a Dyckia!

- Dyckias are new and under studied terrestrial bromeliads that never die from blooming.

- They represent a new choice and a new breeze on the over seem and well known inhabitants of xeric gardens.

- They come in all sort of colors, literally, and every shade and hue in between them.

- Concerning to zize they may come from lilliputian (some few centimeters) to mammothic (several meters) sizes.

- They may bear sharp huge spines or they can be almost to completely toothless plants. Also the spines can be (The immense majority are not.) soft rubbery and inflict no harm to any skin.

- They are not bye-bye plants one is always affraid of their blooming.
You can count on them for much more than a lifetime.
Time and age just count on their favor as they get even prettier as time passes by.

- They do not loose their grace and shape during blooming time but they get even more good looking when bearing their bloomed extravaganza.

- They are extremely hard to be found and just specialized nurseries offer them in a varied number and on a constant flow.

- Most of them are so brand new to us just a very few human set of eyes were on them before. Many species are undescribed and unnamed.

- They can stand some cold but do not endure months of freezing cold temperatures. Southern Brazilian plants can stand -20 degrees centigrades but just for a very brief period.
Happy Dyckia plants are kept under the sun and above 15 degrees Centigrade.
