Default Hechtia argentea

This is for you Andy!

My argentea with the pre-Spring sun has bronzed it up a little.

Cheers,

C

Nice Chris...are you guys warm enough for it to be pushing any growth yet? My imagination is telling me that stuff started growing for me last week when we were back in the mid-70s.

While it has been getting warmer during the day, the evenings are still cool to almost cold. Probably not warm enough consistenly to show much growth. Theres a little, but nothing compared to Spring/Summer. The sun has started showing itself for days at a time instead of sparingly. Ready for Spring so everything can get some growth going!

My H argentea is old. But I remember it always being a distinctive looking plant. Its the scales that make it different... gives the color.
The hail/rain storms of a couple of months ago.. did some damage to the leaves.
I am sending 3 pictures.. one of a pup (I think) I pulled off the daddy plant awhile ago. The second picture before the storm.. and the third shows the damage.

Nice plant. Too bad about the storm. Lots of the plants that I was hoping to show this year got damaged in that storm. Didn't even think about them being out there unprotected until I heard the hail. Do you remember if your plant had the silvery scales the whole time you've had it, or did they develop later?

Uncertain...
You know how it is... time flies like a banana.
It was over 25 years ago.. All I remember was that mine was a very distinctive plant.
Does anyone have pictures of their H argentea's parents? I think at least the mother plant would be photogenic... Daddy could have been a rolling stone.

It was the third of September.
That day I'll always remember, yes I will.
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died.
I never got a chance to see him.
Never heard nothing but bad things about him.
Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth.

And Mama just hung her head and said,
"Son, Papa was a rolling stone.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."
"Papa was a rolling stone, my son.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."
