Default Rare Lophophora

Lophophora in Terrell county Texas. These plants were not known (rumored) from this county until I found them there.

Have you found them in Brewster County? I tried several years ago with only a few vague tips but came up empty. No one says where exactly, and I don't expect them to.

No sir, all I have is an approximate location for Val Verde, Presidio, and Brewster counties. I was hot after the Terrell county population for obvious reasons.

I will be taking Dr. Martin Terry down to document the population and collect a specimen for the herbarium at Sul Ross. I might be able to pry a tip form his grasp as a return favor.

Alternatively my wife and I own a house out in Marathon which about 40 miles from the park entrance so I could just swing down there and take a look myself some time.

Best
Joe

Great find in Terrel Co.! And also easy to find in Brewster Co. ...if you know where to look I'm pritty sure Martin T. knows its location also because a mutual friend of ours joined me when I first visited the plants.

Thanks Jordi!
I do know _about_ where they are supposed to be down there, I've just never bothered to look for them. I might have to go look because I'd like to see if I can find similar situations on a large private ranch near La Linda, and another near San Francisco Canyon.

Wow! I have never seen habitat shot of Lophophora before. Do they usually grow in in part shade? They are sold in nurseries here and perhaps I have it in too much sun...

Very often I have seen Lophophora growing in partial shade near the base of low bushes... but I think I have seen them as often thriving in full sun.
