Just a shot of this guys Echinopsis hybrids for sale (all seem awfully cheap) at Fullerton Green scene last weekend... this guy forbids photos, but I had my telephoto that day. Gotten some amazing plants over the years from this vendor, but not sure he really grew them himself...

I've seen people go around to nurseries and photograph plants for sale. They then post ads on ebay selling those plants, and when the ebay plant sells, they go back to the nursery and buy the plant, then ship it to the ebay winner. They don't have to carry any inventory and most of the time the ebay ad closes before the plant is sold by the nursery to somebody else.

what happens if the plant is already sold? I photograph plants just about anywhere I see them, particularly if I am not familiar with that plant. Some of the best plants I see for photographing are those being offered up for sale. I must have thousands of photos of sale plants. don't really do much with them, but they do help me as a resource. This particular guy had tons of plants with great blooms and I had a to watch for a while as just about everyone with a camera came by to photograph his plants, and he spent just about half his time chasing off photographers as he did trying to sell his plants.

I know people who work at nurseries who do the same thing. I suppose as long as the owner doesn't care, it's ok.
As far as that 'farmer's market' type of guy selling big berthas; he just sounds like he's being crotchety. my .02. ss |
