Default What a Cereus?:

In spite of being not deep into cacti i think this would be nice to see.
This is native to west of Santa Catarina South in Brazil.
Just not recommende for that windowsill.
The cactus is ot big a bit...it is huge!

Wow, look at all the twists! Some are not as "twisty"(technical term) as others, I wonder why?

Default That is an aberration

That is a deformation. It occurs naturaly as crestation does.
This Cerreus occurs in nature here South in Brazil till Uruguay.
There is just one twisted cactus specimen left in nature now.
It leaves in Uruguay. It is an impressive huge plant.

We are preparing the largest Dyckia expo in the World now in Joinville.
This is the be composing the arrangement as it was a Dyckia natural habitat.
Joinville Flower Fest will take place on Nov.17th.

Default Cereus or twisted Cereus can be variegated.

This plant is a too much wished one. It is native to South Brazil and areas of Argentina and Uruguay.
These plants you saw are as large as two Volkswagen beetles. You should see the variegated one.
Our Festa das Flores de Joinville , Joinville Flower Fest to begin Nov.17th will show one of these with 1,5 tons!
Come to see it!

Would join you if I were able. Maybe another year.

If you are able to ship a clipping of that cereus, please let me know. I'd love to own one.

Default Oh my. I would be pleased to send you one or two of any size.

Read me please. I would be extremely happy to send you the cactus but there´s a drawback here. Listen please. Apearently The Brazilian Posting system must think it is the best in The world ´cause it is the most expensive one for sure. A parcel sent to me from New York that costs for instance US$ 10,00 (Ten US Dollars). Now for me to send the very same parcel back to New Yourk costs just US$ 280,00 ( Of course the equivalent to that in Real). As this cactus is very heavy it would cost at least one thousant American Dollars actus of 30 cm. This is impossible. Legally with all the papers and less risks it would go even more expensive. We also get mad about that.
I would like, sure.

They appear fairly regularly on eBay, originating within the USA.

Default Yes, this cactus is no new

Yes , I guess so. This is a very beautiful plant and it exists in many places outside Brazil. I do think it is extremely rare this size I am showing with almost one ton each! Even so it may exist even bigger in some Botanic Garden. Saguaro is a very commom cactus in USA, here too, but specimen with 10 tons are rare or inexistent here. It will take some years for you to find such big ones in there or anywhere, I guess. But funny enough I could not take pictures of the variagated one. Very beautiful one with deep yellow big spots.

Lots of cycads in the background too! I wish I could come down for the show, I would have loved to see all the dyckias as well as everything else. I will probably never be able to get down your way, but who knows what the future brings?
