Hi,
This cute little Cotyledon start came from Brian Le in Northeast Los Angeles. He says he once knew the species, but somewhere along the way that information went missing. Can you help? It is light green, leaves pubescent with red tips, stem has lighter fuzz. It's about to flower, and from its clone-buddies I know it flowers yellow. --dean DC Elzinga Northeast Los Angeles More detailed photos at Flickr: Leaves: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dcelzinga/4822039481/sizes/l/ Last edited by amanzed; 07-23-2010 at 11:03 PM. Hi, just so you don't think I'm not trying...
I think I got it! From Dave's Garden, it looks like what we have here is Cotyledon campanulata. PlantFiles: Picture #5 of Cotyledon (Cotyledon campanulata)Lovely! I can't wait for it to grow up so I can propagate it. This leaves a few more mysteries in my garden that weren't my fault (I'm not counting tags I misplaced), including another mystery Cotyledon and a Tylecodon (pearsonii or wallichii I think, but a smooth peeling variation without horny petioles). I'm really keen to find the identity of my mystery Cotyledon (or maybe it's a Tylecodon! but it hasn't gone dormant yet). I'll post later. Then again, it may be yet another form of Cotyledon orbiculata. It seems like everything under the sun is turning out to be a form of Cotyledon orbiculata. --dean DC Elzinga |
