Default Cycads gone wild!

Encephalartos munchii w/ emerging leaves from the cone, E. whitelockii exhausted, E. ferox and E. lehmannii kirkwood.

Great pics.... Wow, that ferox cone is outrageous! Were those taken at Quail?

Unfortunately not, tho all of ours of these species are coning size, the photos were taken at a good friend of mines who isn't too far from your area Allen.

I have a nice ferox here in Hayward in the bay area growing outdoors. But,in the past I have been in charge of greenhouse ferox of huge sizes-fronds of 5-6',big caudexs. What I always remember was the almost glowing red cones in the part shade. I have always thought if you put a black light or UV light,it would light up. I could be all wrong too!
