Default Dymondia seeds?

Hi,

First of all, thanks to Allen for the great pics of the Dymondia in the plant profiles. I saw Dymondia for the first time this summer while visiting a friend outside of San Diego. I've been trying to locate a local source here in Japan, but have had zero success. Does anyone know of any seed sources? I did try searching online, but no luck.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the community. I have looked quite closely, and have not seen any seed being set. I think the plants here might all be clonal. Try Silverhill Seed's website to see if they have some available.

Allen

Thanks Allen. Interesting. Silverhill does not have Dymondia in their catalog either.

Default Dymondia root divisions

Hi Dan,
Dymondia transplants very easily from root divisions and would tolerate being "bare rooted" for shipping purposes. I am not sure about shipping overseas but I could potentially supply plants for you.

Thanks for the offer Mike. I did a little digging and Japan is very strict regarding plant imports. If the plant ends up going into quarantine, it stays there for at least one growing season. I will keep checking for local sources.

"Fresh Products Plants and Plant products are subject to plant quarantine to prevent a possible invasion of pests which may inhabit these plants. It is stipulated by Japanese law that a phytosanitary certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture be attached to the plants."
