Sure Andy. Besides collecting plants, I also love to photograph them. Here are a few of my favorites - mostly aloes and aeoniums. Since I'm new to Xeric World, I'll cross my fingers my photos downloaded correctly. The plants are: #1 Aloe nobilis variegata; #2 Aloe dorotheae; #3 Aeonium rubrolineatum; #4 Aeonium sunburst; #6 My mediterranean garden; #7 Aloe variegata.

Yeah, briefly. A bit too crowded and hectic for my taste. But I knew as much...I just poked my head in before the Bromeliad Society meeting. It was probably a good thing I didn't fight my way in close to the tables so I wasn't lured into buying anything. I would have missed part of the meeting waiting in line to check out! We had Kelly Griffin as a speaker, so he brought some of his hybrids over to sell to the Brom Society. Unfortunately I wasn't even quick enough to buy some there (too busy with stuff I needed to get done at the meeting).

Andy I agree, the show was extremely crowded. I joined SDCSS this year, so I was let in an hour earlier than the general public, but it was still hard to get around. There's another show in June!? It is held in the courtyard. A must see!
ChrisN82, you cannot go wrong with aeoniums. I grow lots of succulents and I must say aeoniums are one of the easiest to grow. They propogate easily, do well in all kinds of light including bright shade, grow quickly, and come in many colors and sizes. I think I have 10 - 15 species/cultivars and am on the lookout for more. Can't help but post a few tempting photos. Last edited by Zone10; 02-22-2010 at 02:25 AM. |
