Default Important Message for Long Winded Posters.

Hey everyone,

I got a call from a poor community member and heard a familiar sad story. This member took the time to think out and spend an hour of his time researching, editing and posting his ever so informative reply to a thread discussion.

Only to find out that when he finally sent his reply, he got a message that he was no longer logged in and his reply had vanished into thin air..... requiring a complete re-write and a case of high blood pressure.

Depending on the cookie setting of your browser, and which way the wind is blowing, this can unfortunately happen when you spend a long time on a single page. The site thinks you are gone, and can log you out....

So please learn this valuable lesson the easy way..... if you have a lengthy reply to make, just type it up in your email program, or word, or similar and save it there... then copy and paste it in the reply box before you send it..... at the least, select and copy the text in your reply before you submit it......

Cheers, Allen

Default Important message for thoughtful, careful writers

Slight thread title re-write (speaking on behalf of the longwind... err... thoughtful writer who takes time to choose the right words).

I've been unintentionally jetisoned before, but not since I started checking "Remember me" below the login fields. Also, when preparing a lengthy post I "Copy" the text directly from the reply box before sending. In the event I get booted off, I just "Paste" the same post after logging on again.

Here's a tip for all website foundlings like me. You can enter comments on your post, push "submit reply", then refresh the website immediately and "edit" your post after it has been logged. Just do it before you go to bed at night so you don't get critiqued by the "late-nighters" before you have a chance to clean it up! This has the same effect as the "save" feature in other programs without the hassle of losing your script in transit... This also gives you a chance to do things like checking facts on the internet, etc. A good nights sleep under the bridge always gives me a different perspective in the morning! Then I'll clean up the post a little more and add the stuff The Ghost relayed to me in my dreams...

The monger
