Well, I want to show you a new discovery here in Santa Catarina Brazil. Dyckias that we usually come to know are all old classics and even so most of the already described species are hard to find even in pictures let aside the true thing.
This plant is the rubra one. In wilderness I found the green and the rubra plants. Both extremely rare and this rubra plant is evern rarer. Found on a rocky outcrop amid a pristine araucaria forest. It is used to mild frosts in winter but do not go on thinking it can face and cope with a Chicago winter windy night..it would not last a minute!
This sort of color is true, it won´t fade away any time. In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful new Dyckia species.
The orange flowers are big and beautiful.
The leaves are like colorful ribbons.
We are describing this plant as
Dyckia gloriosa rubra.
Hope u like it.
