Default Dracaena draco blooming first time

I just noticed that one of my Dragon trees is getting ready to bloom for the first time. What can I expect now? Will it start to form side branches? I was hoping this particular one would wait a couple more years because it is right next to a pathway and I didn't want the branches to obstruct.

I went down on the hillside and took a pic of it. I'm getting too old for this stuff. I'm going to kill myself one of these days...falling off an empty paint bucket or something and falling into a patch of cactus.

My limited experience and observation is that it will branch where it blooms. I have one that split four ways, the other six...... but the trunk below the split should continue to grow, so the split should raise up as the plant grows.

Thanks Allen, that's good to know. As long as I can get it up about a foot higher, it should be no problem.

Ron, what happened with your D Draco?

Those emerging flowers don't look like the clusters we get here. Maybe it is a Cordyline australis?

Here are the fruits of our local Dracaena draco.

Of course I could be mistaken...

All the best,

Shmuel

That particular D. draco is doing fine. I think it's going to have a slew of branches. It looks a littlre raggedy right now because the leaves on the main stem have been slowly dying off but each of the new branchlets are really taking off. I have another D. draco on the cul-de-sac that is about three feet taller than this one and I'm hoping it will bloom soon. I think they look a little ungainly if they get too tall.
