
There is quite a debate over whether to acidify one's water when watering cacti and succulents. A recent resurrection of Buxbaum's theory of needing to acidify the soil and water has been published stating that it is critical to the proper uptake of vital nutrients. I would like to share the following diagram showing the rates of uptake relative to pH and let everyone whom is contemplating this dilema make decisions for themselves. These figures were not published within the recent CSSA journal article, and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand drops of vinegar:
