How To Subscribe to Forums and Threads of Interest.

Subscribing to Forums:

If you have a particular Forum or Forums of interest in the community, you can subscribe to these Forums. This will send you a notification when a new thread is started in that forum.

The default settings of the community will subscribe you to an individual thread that you reply to, but you will not get a notification of new threads that are created.

(The exception to this is my personal intervention where I have personally subscribed some personal friends to Forums that I know they are interested in.)

So let's say you are an Aloe Nut and want to be notified when any new thread is started in the Aloe Forum. You might also be very interested in Agave, but not quite as much....

And you might not be interested in Messembs at all......

If you go to the Aloeaceae Forum and want to subscribe, you will see in the dark brown bar just above the thread listing, a menu item called "Forum Tools" Clicking this link, will give you a drop down menu that gives some options, one of which is "Subscribe to This Forum"

Clicking this link will open a window with a drop down menu that gives you subscription options.

"No Email Notification" will subscribe you to the forum, but only give you a notification on your User CP Homepage. Not very useful, but still can be a reminder to check a Forum that is of minor interest.

"Daily Updates By Email" will give you a once a day notification when a new thread has been created. This can be used for forums of keen interest.

"Weekly Notification By Email" will send you a notification once a week, and is good for Forums of secondary iterest.

Visiting the forum at any time will during the notification period before the email is sent, will cancel the email notification.

Subscribing to Threads:

If you find a thread you are interested and add a post to the thread, you will by default, be subscribed to the thread. If you want to receive instant notifications to replies to the particular thread, You will see a menu item "Thread Tools" listed in the dark brown bar above the posts. Clicking this link will drop down a menu that allows you to subscribe to an individual thread. This will work completely separate from subscribing to forums.

Subscribing to at least one Forum of interest is a great way to remind you to visit the site, and will keep you up to date on community activity. Let me know if you have any Questions.
