I will try to explain how to upload photos, add photos to your post, your Personal Photo Albums, and the Group Photo Galleries.
Personal Photo Albums:
First place to start will be creating a Personal Photo Album that is visible on your
Profile Page. To create an Album, you must go to your "User Cp" via the link at the left side of the top menu bar.
Once in the Control Panel, you will see a list of menu items in the left column. You want to click on "Personal Photo Albums"
Once you are on the Album page, you will notice a link in the upper left that says "Add Album"
Clicking this link brings you to the page that allows you to name your album and include a description.
You can create as many albums as you like, and organize them however you want..... An album for Random photos, a field trip, by species, genus, whatever you want.
These albums will be shown on your profile when some visits your profile page.
Once you have created your Albums, you can upload photos by selecting the Album, and then clicking the "Upload Pictures" link.
This will take you to the upload page where you can browse your computer, select the images, and then upload up to five at a time.
Photo sizes are limited to 200k, and 800 x 800 size per photo. The software will attempt to resize photos that are not too big, but you will not be able to upload photos that are over 3mb or so, so will have to resize them before you upload.
If you are uploading large photos to be resized, and have trouble, please resize them locally on your computer before upload
Group Photo Galleries:
Once you have added your photo's to your profle gallery, you can make them more available to visitors by adding them to the
Group Photo Galleries.
You must have your photo's in your profile gallery before you can add them to the species gallery.
The Group Photo Galleries are user generated. You can create a gallery for anything you like, but I would prefer that things are organized Genus.... or species if necessary.
To add your photo's to an existing gallery, you must first join the gallery group of interest.
Once you have joined the Gallery, you can add photo's by visiting the gallery and clicking the "Add pictures " link, which will take you to your profile albums. Once at your profile albums, just select the album where your photo is located, open the album, and click the "Add pictures to Group" link. This will allow you to select as many photo's as yo want from this album, and then select the gallery you want to add them to.
Once you have joined a Gallery, you can easily just add photos to it through your album pages.......
Please search the list of Group Photo Galleries before you create a new one so that it keeps things better organized.
The goal here is to eventually have a large catalog of Genus or Species specific photos that visitors can search and browse....
Having your photo's in the Group Photo Galleries will bring people to your profile where they can then see all your photos, so adding photos to the Species Gallery will bring visitors to your home page where you can show off your collection.
Adding a photo to a post:
There are several ways to include photos in a post.
The way that makes the biggest contribution to the community, is to first upload your photo to one of your Personal Photo Albums.
Than, when creating a post, you can insert your image anywhere in your post by clicking on the little

image in the post menu bar which allows you to insert the url of your image.
the url of your image is always available when your are viewing the image in your album. Below the image is the URL which you can copy and paste into the popup window that appears afteryou select the image icon.
Alternately, you can insert images into your post by simply copying and pasting the complete "BB Code" code.
Using the insert image popup, is simply creating the BB Code for you, so either way will work fine.
You can also insert these codes from any web hosting service such as photobucket, flickr, etc, but this is not preferred because having the images hosted by the community will make them more available to members browsing your profile or the Group Photo Galleries.
Don't forget when you add a photo to your profile gallery, to also add it to the Group Photo Gallery.
Lastly, you can directly attach an image or file from your computer without using a web hosting service, or the profile gallery by choosing the "Go Advanced" reply button, which gives you a detailed reply window..... scroll down the reply window and click "Manage Attachments" box in the "Attach Files" section.
Clicking the "Manage Attachments" link will open a popup window where you can select the file by browsing your computer. Make sure and then click "Upload" after you select the file.
This will attach your photo to the end of your post. It will not allow you to insert it between text of your post. It is the quickest way to get a photo from your hard drive to the website, but the photo will only be seen by those reading the post, and not by visitors to your profile or the Group Photo Galleries.
Inserting Video:
Inserting video into a post is a breeze.... simply copy and paste the url from the browser page the video is on. An example for the following video is the code:
"http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2703784/7884092" (do not use the quotation marks)
